The full origin story of TEW School of Sound — from a last-minute pivot at 36.5 weeks pregnant to building a School of Sound while raising a daughter. Honest, raw, and forward-looking.

I want to tell you the real story of how TEW School of Sound came to exist.

Not the polished version. Not the highlight reel. The actual one — with the messy pivot, the pregnancy, the dark season, and the slow, quiet return to myself that is still happening right now.

Because I think the real story matters. Not just for TEW. But for anyone who is in the middle of building something and wondering if the mess they're living in is somehow evidence that they're doing it wrong.

It isn't.

It's just the story.

The Pivot Nobody Saw Coming

Two years ago I was marketing a Hybrid 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Nine months of building. The curriculum, the container, the sales page, the momentum.

Everything was in place. And then — at 36.5 weeks pregnant — something in me said no.

Not no to teaching. Not no to training. No to this. No to the version of the program I had been building that no longer felt like the truest expression of what I was here to do.

So I made a decision that, looking back, I still can't fully explain logically.

I scrapped the YTT.

With three months to go, I rebuilt it from scratch as the first ever TEW 50-Hour Sound Practitioner Training and Retreat. Not because I had hosted this format dozens of times. I had hosted it exactly once, in person, just a few months before. Not because the timing was ideal. I was weeks from giving birth. Not because I had a guarantee it would work.

Because something in me knew it was right. And I have learned, over the years, to trust that feeling above almost everything else.

I filled it with fifteen people in three months — after nine months of marketing something else entirely.

That training happened. It was extraordinary. And two weeks after it ended, Bella was born.

The Birth

On my father's birthday. After twenty-six hours of labor.

I think she knew exactly what she was doing.

The moment I held her I understood something about love that I hadn't understood before. Not the concept of it — the real thing. The kind that lives so deep in your body it almost doesn't have a name. The kind that reorganizes everything you thought you knew about what matters.

I have never been the same since.

The Pace That Cost Me Everything

Three and a half months later, I got on a plane with Bella and hosted another 50hr Sound Practitioner Training + Retreat in Costa Rica at Synergy.

I kept going at the same pace I had always gone. Same output. Same calendar. Same relentless forward motion — as if a whole human being hadn't just entered my life and rearranged everything inside it. As if my body hadn't just done the most extraordinary and exhausting thing it had ever done. As if I could simply absorb motherhood into my existing life and keep moving without missing a beat.

I could not.

I ran myself straight into the ground.

Not just tired. Not just depleted in the way that a good night of sleep fixes. I fell into a dark, dark hole. Postpartum depression. Extreme sleep deprivation. Waking up most mornings and genuinely not recognizing myself — not just physically, but in every way.

Like the person who had built all of this, who knew who she was and what she stood for, had quietly left the building.

And I was still here. Still showing up. Still putting on a face for the healing business I had created. Still leading, still teaching, still performing okay — while falling completely apart on the inside.

For a long time I kept pushing through it. Because that's what I knew how to do. Because stopping felt like failing. Because I had people counting on me and trainings on the calendar and a version of myself I felt obligated to maintain.

Until I felt myself breaking.

Not bending. Breaking.

The Decision to Stop

I made the decision to consolidate my June and October trainings into one.

I disappointed people. I felt like I was failing them, failing the business, failing the version of myself who had never missed a beat.

It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in my professional life.

And it was the most necessary.

Because the space I gave myself by finally stopping — that is what brought me back.

Not all at once. Not dramatically. Slowly, quietly, the way the nervous system actually heals when you finally stop overriding it. I started sleeping more. I stopped performing okay and started actually becoming it.

And somewhere in that slowness, something shifted.

What the Dark Season Built

I want to be honest about something that most people in business don't say out loud.

Right now, in this season of my life, I am not making enough to fully support myself.

I am the person who built TEW. Who filled a sound training with fifteen people in three months while pregnant. Who has led international trainings and retreats across multiple countries for nearly a decade. Who has been in the wellness industry for over thirteen years.

And I am currently in a pivot that has me rebuilding from a different foundation.

Not because the business isn't real. Not because the work isn't valuable. Because I cannot operate the way I used to operate before Bella.

The volume of in-person events, the constant travel, the saying yes to anything that involved a plane ticket — that was the architecture of my old life. A life I built intentionally and loved deeply. A life that was perfectly designed for who I was before I became a mother.

But it is not the life I am living now. And trying to force the old model onto this new season is exactly what put me in that dark hole to begin with.

So I am pivoting. Again.

Online education. Evergreen programs. Coaching and mentorship containers that don't require me to be on a plane every month to create real impact. A business that can grow while Bella sleeps, while we're at the playground, while we're navigating this wild, beautiful, completely disorienting season of life together.

And here is what I want to say clearly about that:

I get to do that.

There is no ceiling on this work. No income cap. No boss telling me I've reached the limit of what's possible. No user manual telling me the pivot isn't allowed. No performance review where someone else decides whether I've earned the right to change direction.

I just get to decide.

That is the most extraordinary thing about building something of your own. You get to change it as many times as your life requires. The only thing that stays constant is the decision to keep building.

Two Years. One Baby. One School of Sound.

Here is what TEW School of Sound has become in two years:

International trainings in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and US. A local 50-Hour Sound Practitioner Training at Pure Yoga Studio. A growing community of practitioners — yoga teachers, massage therapists, therapists, coaches, wellness professionals — who have come through this work and gone home to build something real in their communities.

Graduates who have opened studios. Led sold-out events. Built courses. Hosted retreats. Become the person in their community that people send their most important people to.

And now — the Business of Sound Healing Mastermind. The three-month container I built because I refused to keep sending graduates home without the support to actually build from what they learned. The program I wish had existed when I was piecing everything together alone.

What Comes Next

In less than two weeks I leave for Costa Rica to close the last chapter of this training at Synergy Retreat Center. A venue that has held this work in a way I will carry with me for the rest of my career. A container I am deeply proud of. A chapter I am so ready to honor fully — and then close.

And when I come home, the next chapter begins.

I have no idea what the next two years hold.

But I have never been more clear on who I am, what I'm building, and why it matters.

To everyone who has been here for this journey — the trainings, the emails, the retreats, the hard honest posts, the Bella updates, all of it — thank you.

You have been part of this story in more ways than you know.

And I cannot wait to share what comes next.
